Understanding Clauses
Friday 15th July:
Learning Intention: To identify main (independent) and subordinate (dependent) clauses.
Upload yesterday's work to your Weebly:
1. An explanation of both kinds of clauses.
2. The highlighted (colour-coded) sentences.
3. A reflection (like we have been doing on the Weeblies, but also include how confident you are feeling about identifying main and subordinate clauses).
Hunt for main and subordinate clauses in your Independent Reading Book. Collect at least six of each (in your English book - don't forget a heading and the date!).

Learning Intention: To identify main (independent) and subordinate (dependent) clauses.
Independent task:
On your iPad or in your English book, record what main and subordinate clauses are. (Remember you can look at the prezi again from yesterday, or watch this video again to help!). You might prefer to call them independent and dependent clauses - that's fine. Include two examples of each type of clause.
Next: Identifying main and subordinate clauses:
Highlight the main and subordinate clauses in these sentences, using one colour for each type of clause.
(You could use Notability, Book Creator or any other app - up to you.)
